Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that search. The provider handles the query and returns its result; Colorado Court Docket does not keep a log of those terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message to respond. It remains within our organization unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, our server may record basic technical information about the visit, such as:
- The time and date of a page view
- The referring site, when available
- The pages visited and time spent on them
- Your device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Your device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, small files saved by your browser, to measure how visitors use pages and where they leave. Analytics services combine those activity details into traffic reports. You can block cookies in your browser, though some site features may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
We use visitor information to keep the service working and understand how people use it. This can include:
- Measuring which pages are useful and where changes may help
- Displaying ads that may relate to visitor interests
- Sending a search query to the provider that operates the tool
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Maintaining page performance and site availability
No Court-Record Data on File
Colorado Court Docket does not store, build, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case histories. It provides general directions to the Judicial Branch's free upcoming-settings calendar, the Branch-linked paid Register of Action service, and the Clerk of Court who holds the official file in the county where a state case was filed. Colorado has 64 counties in this directory. Visitor information is not combined into consumer reports or third-party case files, and the service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Access to Colorado court case files follows court-specific rules, including Chief Justice Directive 05-01 and PAIRR Rule 1. The Colorado Open Records Act applies to many government records, but a court case-file request uses the Judicial Branch's record-access process.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. A query submitted there is covered by that provider's privacy terms. Each provider decides how long to retain submitted data and whether to share it; review its policy before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to court portals, county offices, legal-aid resources, and outside search services. Once you follow one, the destination's privacy rules apply. Check those terms before sending it personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. Their systems control that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be handled by service providers or authorities in these circumstances:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
- Ad networks that display ads on site pages
- Analytics providers measuring visits and page performance
- Search companies processing queries submitted to their tools
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for collected information, but internet-connected systems cannot be guaranteed secure in every circumstance. We take steps to protect data without promising that a breach can never occur.
Users Under 18
Colorado Court Docket is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor sent information, contact us so we can remove it.
Your Data Rights
Where it applies, the Colorado Privacy Act, C.R.S. §§6-1-1301 et seq., including §6-1-1306, gives qualifying consumers rights concerning personal data held by covered controllers. Its scope and exceptions matter, so these rights do not apply to every organization or every data use. For covered processing, requests may include:
- Opt out of certain covered processing
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask for access to personal data held about you
- Request deletion where the law provides that right
The Colorado Attorney General's Colorado Privacy Act information summarizes these rights. A request's eligibility depends on the Act and the information involved.
