About Colorado Court Docket

Colorado court information sits in several places. The Judicial Branch Docket Search lists upcoming settings in state trial courts, while a paid vendor linked by the Branch offers selected Register of Action searches. The Clerk of Court in the county where a case was filed keeps the official trial-court file, and court rules govern public access. This reference site brings those statewide and local routes together so a reader can choose the right search or reach the correct court without mistaking a calendar or summary for the underlying record.

Why We Built This Site

Colorado's public court systems are statewide in some ways and local in others. The Judicial Branch's free Docket Search is a calendar of upcoming state-court settings. CoCourts, which the Branch's Access Guide links for remote case history, sells selected Register of Action searches and warns that its results are not the official record and may omit cases or information. The official file remains with the Clerk of Court for the court that received the case. A statewide search can help identify a court or event, but the full history, filed papers, and certified copies must be confirmed with that Clerk. The directory connects readers to all 64 Colorado counties.

What You Will Find Here

The statewide calendar and a case history answer different questions, and a local clerk may hold material that neither remote tool displays. The Colorado Court Docket pages point to these distinct routes:

  • Your local court: use Browse Counties to reach the state-court information for any of Colorado's 64 counties
  • Trial-court structure: see Court Structure and the role of District, County, municipal, and appellate courts
  • Upcoming events: learn how to check the Court Schedule and confirm a setting with the court
  • Criminal and civil matters: review how Criminal Court Dockets and Civil Court Dockets are organized
  • Case history: understand the paid and official routes described on Docket Search
  • Copies and filings: learn how to request Court Case Records from the proper Clerk of Court

What We Cannot Do

Colorado Court Docket is a private reference resource, separate from Colorado courts, Clerks of Court, and state agencies. It cannot perform official court functions or replace the record custodian. For example:

  • We do not issue certified copies of case files, orders, or docket entries
  • We cannot change or confirm a hearing date for a particular case
  • We cannot retrieve, amend, remove, or seal a court record
  • We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, filing, or specific case
  • We cannot promise every published fee, contact detail, or setting instruction is current
  • We cannot supply the official docket sheet or case file held by a Colorado court

The Clerk of Court or court that holds a Colorado case must provide its official file and any certified copy. A reference link can identify that office, but it cannot create or certify the record.

Search Partners

Some search boxes are operated by outside providers, which set their own fees and control their own results. If a visitor signs up through one of those tools, Colorado Court Docket may receive a referral payment. Such revenue helps support free site access. The provider, rather than this reference site, decides its pricing and what its search returns.
